Over the past 3 years I have been introduced (by my husband) to the world of crystals. I had no idea that there is so much to know and learn about these small fragments of rock. Since we have been together, Adam has asked me over and over again to get him a product from this amazing site, known as ‘Shamans Crystals’. So with his birthday fast approaching, I decided to take matters into my own hands and set off to find gift that was in the form of a crystal that he has been longing for since the beginning of our relationship. Shaman’s crystal is an easy site to maneuver around, with instructions for every step of the ordering process.

I made an account and then went through every single page of the site until I found the perfect gift for Adam. I found a large crystal skull. There are all sorts of crystal skulls available. They come in all shapes and sizes and in a range of different crystal types. I chose the quartz crystal skull as not only was it beautiful and perfectly hand crafted, but the description and meaning of the crystal that was written alongside the product, fit perfectly for Adam.

The best  quality of the site is that if you know very little about the world of crystals then there is an A-Z of crystals which explains what the crystal is, what is does and what kind of energy is creates. All crystals have an element of healing within them, so when buying a crystal you need to think about the person you are buying it for and if it will best suit them. I had a friend who was very ill, so I sort out to find her a crystal on this amazing site that not only was beautiful to look at, but was also known to project healing energy onto the individual that it is on or near to. I did not want to buy her a rock that she would probably throw in here cupboard and never look at again, so I looked on the site to see if they had something that was made out of this crystal but was nice enough for her not to chuck away. I went through the jewelry and found this crystal in the form of a bracelet, necklace and earrings and thought that this would be the best way to present this crystal to her in the form of some jewelry. Not only was the product great, but the quality was superb. Once I gave her the gift, she has worn them every time we have been out together and they look amazing on her. Continue reading »]]> Yesterday, I discovered Floatworks. My fiancé and I have been looking for something out of the ordinary to do over a weekend. We were fed up of getting home from work on a Friday night and watching TV, working on our laptops then going to bed. Our Saturdays and Sundays usually work out the same way, and we were sick of this monotonous routine lifestyle of work and rest, with very little playtime. So I ventured on the internet for something that we would both enjoy. After spending a good hour looking at places to go and various experiences that I personally would enjoy (all be it slightly girly) I searched for spa days and venues which specialise in relaxation. After clicking on a few websites and nothing really tickling my fancy, I came across a strange website called floatworks. I was intrigued by the little potbellied doodle of a man floating, which is their trademark logo.  After looking through the site and learning a little about this interesting day out, my fiancé and I decided to go ahead and book.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, we left our flat and travelled just over an hour on the London tube to London Bridge station where we got off and followed our little printed map from the internet. We managed to walk all around the station and found ourselves looking at the other exit in the statin, making a complete loop, when we could have just walked out a different exit. After feeling a little lost and bemused, we followed our navigation system which was on our phones, to a little street being over shadowed by the new eyesore of the London skyline known as ‘The Shard’. Once we reached our destination we were both quite happy to see the logo hanging from the door frame. From the outside, the building looks a little dingy, small and could be mistaken for a block of flats. However, once you pass the front doors a whole world of relaxation is at your disposal. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet, with signs everywhere asking you to reduce your noise levels.  Once we had walked down the steps to reception, we were greeted by friendly members of staff, who handed us some forms to fill in and a leaflet to read so we would understand a little more about what we were about to discover.

After reading many reviews, we thought that the place would be unclean and dingy, however the cleanliness was second to none, so whoever wrote that as a review obviously does not know cleanliness if it hit them over the head with a baseball bat. Once we had gone through the necessary paperwork, we were shown to the bathrooms where we were told to go to the toilet as, you do not want to enter a floatation devise and then after 5 minutes need the toilet, if you do do that, then you ruin the entire point of the floatation tank.  We were then shown to our own individual rooms, which had a shower, a shelf and a floatation pod inside. We were given our instructions to shower before you enter the pod, place the ear plugs in your ears and then get to know the buttons within the tank. The tank was filled with water and Epsom salts which makes you float, providing an environment free from gravity. Once following all of the instructions I got into the pod, shut the door and began to float.

At first, the sensation is a little strange, as the water is so salty, you may have some minor cuts which you did not realise you had, which tingle and feel a little sore from the salt, however after a short amount of time, it tends to disappear. In addition, when reading through the instructions prior to entering the pod, you are given the choice to have the light on or off, with a button inside the pod if you change your mind at any time during your float. I must admit that I was quite nervous before the float so kept the light on throughout my floating experience. My Fiancé did however choose to turn the light off and then struggled to find the light switch in the process and freaked himself out. If at any point you feel uncomfortable all you need to do is push up on the lid of the pod and the device opens up for you automatically. In addition, you are also given the choice to go into the pod either in a bathing suit or naked. As the door of the room could be locked from the inside, then I felt comfortable enough to go in without clothes.

The experience goes on for an hour and 20 minutes. We were given 10 minutes to get ready, shower and remove all makeup and jewellery and then get into the pod, after the pod, we were given another 10 minutes to shower and get dressed and leave the room. Once in the pod, I was greeted with soothing music which played for approximately 10 minutes in order to calm down and relax the individual in the pod, then the music turned off and I was left with my body and mind. After the hour was up, music is then played into the pod as a wakeup call and to let you know that your session is over. After spending 5 minutes in the pod messing around and getting comfortable, I was so relaxed that I must have fallen asleep, however when I woke up it was time to get out.

This was by far the most relaxing experience I have ever had and would recommend it whole heartedly to everyone out there. I also do believe that this type of relaxation therapy should be taught to all school children and it should be mandatory for every adult to have this experience at least once in their lifetime.

Continue reading »]]> I’ve had the InnerPulse Deluxe from Meditations UK for a over 3 years now, and have used it on and off since I first received it. It features an extensive range of tracks and technology, and while it works primarily with binaural beat technology, it also does a whole lot more than that. For one, the product features “ColorTrack Glasses” – they can either be manually controlled to switch between the various color settings, or they can be set to ‘frequency tracker’ mode whereby the color of the light automatically changes to an appropriate color for the frequency being utilized as the session progresses. From a lay person’s perspective, the ColorTrack Glasses will appear to flash ‘in time’ with the audio, although they are in fact flickering in time with the ‘difference’ between the two waves to further enhance the binaural effect. I find that using the InnerPulse Deluxe with the glasses immerses me in the experience substantially more than without.

The InnerPulse Deluxe comes packed with different sessions from breathing control programs to meditation, sleep and relaxation tracks, from high energy and focus to high creativity. Now before I go any further, I will point out that this device comes packed with an obscene number of features. If you’re an advanced user really looking to tweak your sessions to your exact specification, then this is the device for you.

Today, I decided to review one of the built in meditation tracks. This is one of my personal favorites and by far the one that I use most often. It’s equally good for just lying back and relaxing to, although I’m sure you won’t be surprised to know that there are 7 dedicated relaxation tracks aside from the 7 dedicated meditation tracks. For those who already own this device, the track name is “D05 – Cosmic Consciousness,” a  35 minute track, ranging from 3.5Hz to 20Hz.

Fortunately I own the EMOTIV EPOC Research Edition headset which provides a very detailed picture of the brain’s electrical activity as an EEG monitor. Audio technology such as this can often be subject to exaggeration, placebo effect, and subjective experience, and so I use this device to prove results from an objective and measurable standpoint.
